Handel’s “Messiah”

Handel’s “Messiah” is the most popular large choral work ever
written, with hundreds of performances each year. David W.
Music will guide you through many of the interesting features
that make up the work. The course will include listening to
various portions of the work and descriptions of the beginnings
of oratorio, the Baroque period (in which “Messiah” was written),
Handel’s life, and an introduction to some of the composer’s
other oratorios. Knowledge of musical notation is not required.
