Searching for Freedom: Texas Immigration in the 1800s

Tuesdays, 1:30 - 3:00 pm - Feb 6, 13, 20, 27

Location: Mayborn Museum

From its beginning, Texas has offered immigrants freedoms
unknown in their homelands. Rosalie Beck will analyze why
German, Czech, Chinese and Polish travelers made their way to
Texas in the 1800s, where they chose to live, how they chose to
live and what their influence has been on the state. These stories
are a reminder that almost everyone in the state descends from
an immigrant who wanted a better life in a new place.
